The Hufflepuff Taurus: Taurus, the nature-loving bull, is a natural sign for Hufflepuffs to be born under. These wizards tend to specialize in herbs and nature spells, also in the husbandry and preservation of magical beasts. Their gentle good natures, open friendliness, hard work, patience, and politeness endear them to most everyone they meet. Where they are/where they want to be: He's currently finishing his first year of training with St. Mungo's. Has one more year before residency, and needs to figure out if he wants to be a General Healer or a specialist. He's hating the occasional 24 hour shift, but enjoying the opportunity to learn to help people, and to experience all of the different wizard medicine specialties through his various rotations. On the personal front, he's happily ensconced in a long-term relationship and is quite content with things the way they are - except for maybe getting to see his boyfriend more often.

Sexual orientation/what attracts them: Once dated a girl, but is currently happily in love with a bloke. He doesn't think much on what that makes him, just enjoying it for what it is. For the record, he's attracted by someone taller than him, someone strong-willed, someone who's more than what meets the eye, and nice hands.
Children - have any? want any?: Max - currently in Michael's custody while Ernie's living at the St. Mungo's Trainee/Resident dormitory, but lived with Ernie at Hogwarts during his redone 7th year. Max is 22 months old, and the apple of his fathers' eyes.

Backstory/History - aka, where they have been between DH and Ascendant, and beyond:
After the final battle, Ernie volunteered to help with the reconstruction of Hogwarts, wanting to see it brought back to its former glory as soon as possible. In the course of that summer, he began a romantic relationship with his friend Michael Corner, who remains his partner and confidant to this day. Come September 1998, Ernie went back to the partially reconstructed Hogwarts to complete his NEWT year, and upon finishing school in 1999, he followed his truest desires and entered the Healer-in-training program at St. Mungo's.

Ernie's relationship with his parents, however, has fared far worse than his career choices. His father Angus has all but disowned him for single-handedly making the Macmillan name synonymous with being a blood traitor. To make matters worse, Ernie's boyfriend is barely a half-blood with no true lineage, and because Ernie's an only child, the nature of his relationship makes passing on the family name quite difficult. His mother Gwen, however, is of the opinion that as long as Ernie's happy, then she's happy - and there are always options in obtaining grandchildren ;) She tries to mediate between the two men as much as she can, and supports Ernie and his choices.

How the war affected them:
During the course of the war, and especially at the final battle, Ernie has seen more pain, death and destruction than any 20 year old should. This was part of the reason why he wanted to become a healer - so that he could help save lives and take away pain, rather than the other way around. Like so many, he did things that he is not proud of, hurt people on the other side, but he is proud of his participation and the fact that he stood proud at Harry's side for what is right.

Ernie, however, was hurt by the retreat of so many of his classmates at that final battle, disappointed that they'd abandoned the others to fight without them. The hardest of those was Zacharias Smith, Ernie's roommate and childhood friend whom he had admired even after they'd grown apart at Hogwarts, having drifted into differing social groups. Some day, perhaps, Ernie will forgive Zach for his actions - but that day hasn't come yet.
